NEET UG 2017: Odia, Kannada added to NEET List – The centre has decided to add two more local languages Odia, Kannada for students who are appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) providing relief to the students. Other than Hindi & English the candidate will be writing the NEET exam in eight regional languages which include Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada & Odia.
The Orissa & Karnataka governments had earlier taken the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government also solved the interference of inclusion of both the languages among others in conducting NEET.
Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha, also held the Centre responsible for language intolerance and also wrote to the Prime Minister seeking his personal interference. Earlier, the health ministry had written to CBSE to consider the demand of both the states. Karnataka Examination Authority KEA will allocate the medical & dental seats based on the scores the student gets in NEET.
Earlier, Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha, had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the NEET pre-medical exam to be conducted in the state’s language Odia.
The candidates for the medical examination of NEET UG 2017 are waiting for the NEET UG 2017 application form to release on AIPMT official website. It is expected that the NEET UG exam will be conducted in the month of May.
In 2016, the AIPMT-2016/NEET-I was conducted on 1st May 2016, while NEET-II was conducted on 24th July 2016. CBSE conducts the entrance examination, declares the result and provides all India rank to the Counselling Authorities & Admitting Institutions.
